Evan in Greek comes from ‘Evangellos’ (Ευάγγελος) which comes from ‘ev’ (ευ) which means ‘good’ in Greek and ‘angel’ (άγγελος) which means the one who brings news. So it actually means ‘The bearer of good news’.
It has nothing to do with ‘young warrior’ or ‘well born’.
